Ansel Adams
Ansel Adams grew up in a "Victorian" household that didn't discuss much feelings. His parents were rather elderly. His nose was broken in 1906 during the great earthquake and fire. It was partly due to this that Ansel didn't fit in very well at school. His parents tried sending him to different schools, but eventually decided to tutor him personally for the majority of his schooling life. Ansel was a musician before he was a photographer. His primary instrument was the piano. His original intention was to become a professional musician, but he eventually gave it up for photography. His first camera was a Kodak No. 1 Box Brownie given to him by his parents. In 1927 he created his first fully visualized photograph Monolith, the Face of Half Dome. Because he shot mostly in black and white, contrast was key in his photographs. He uses sunlight in many of them to provide the white and they all include many shadows or silhouettes for the darker shades.
I chose this photo because the white and black is not so obvious and abrupt. There are may more shades of gray and just a bit of pure black and white.

Panoramic photos
I chose this because I really like the color of the sky in this, it is so bright. And I like that you can see the shadow of the photographer. |

This is my favorite kind of panoramic picture. It looks like a tiny planet floating in space. There is a lot you can fit into a picture like this. This one looks like an entire property. |

Found Faces Favorite Face Story
I have stared into the abyss, and it has looked back. You were wise to leave this place, for those who do not are doomed to develop the curse of the sight. Most of the others in my family of gazers regard the sight as a gift or talent, I am among the few in my family who see the true nature of the sight. You should treasure your limited vision, there are things which no one should ever have to witness. Those with the sight gaze endlessly into the depths of the universe, we know its secrets, we discover new horrors and miracles every cycle. Our job is to document the things we see for the Power. The Earth humans have many different terms for It, a common one being "God". Though I have no purpose other than to see and document, my thoughts will often drift to fantasies of leaving this, though I know it is impossible. Of the very few things I take joy in, one of them is looking to the music makers of the universe. Listening to the cadences and harmonies of the sounds is the only real consolation I can find in my eternal despair. I once attempted to engage in conversation with my sistergazer. I asked her if she ever heard the music. She was shocked that I had spoken to her, in the place of the gazers usually the only conversation is to the Power. She told me that she hadn't, that this was not our purpose, and that I shouldn't either. She called me Au, it means "Doneness"; it is my name, and though it is fitting, I've never liked it. I have requested on many occasions to the Power that It change my name, but It refuses. Nothing ever changes here.

Favorite Picture Post
This is a photo I really like because of the emotion it conveys. And the way the girl is the obvious focal point of the picture. The way she is posed doesn't look entirely comfortable, adding to the stress of the photo. Her hands are up on her head covering her ears trying to block the negative out. The hands that were added to the picture give a sense, to me at least, of impending doom. They're coming for her, and she can't do anything about it.
